Lay Eucharistic Ministers

Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) assist the clergy during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist by bearing the chalice and bread to those receiving Holy Communion. LEMs also serve as Intercessors leading the various forms of the Prayers of the People. The Eucharist is carried to the sick and shut-in on a monthly basis with Jean and Lucy-Lee Reed coordinate the schedule for home communions. Weekly service scheduling is monitored by Joe Donovan. LEMs also serve dinner at Alexandria’s Carpenter’s Shelter once a quarter, on the third Tuesday in January, April, July and October. Mary Hix coordinates this LEM ministry. Kristine Hesse is the LEM vestments coordinator. The Bishop of Virginia licenses LEMs who have been selected by the Rector, accepted the invitation, and have been trained. Kemp Williams is the overall LEM coordinator.
